This massive 5.8” fossil tooth belonged to the infamous Megalodon. Megalodon, meaning "big tooth", is an extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 2.6 million years ago, during the Early Miocene to the end of the Pliocene. It was formerly thought to be a member of the Lamnidae family, making it closely related to the great white shark., though it could grow to lengths of 65 feet long! It preyed on mostly large fish and marine mammals. These teeth are highly sought out by collectors!
