This raised Fossil impression of a Theropod Dinosaur Track was found in the Summer of 2017 while fossil hunting throughout the United Kingdom. This track was found near Cromarty, Scotland in which the area is rich in Jurassic-Aged fossils, and a few Cretaceous outcrops. Cromarty was made famous by the tragic geologist named Hugh Miller. Fossil Dinosaur footprints on mainland Scotland were only just discovered in 2017, and I am proud to have assisted in that discovery.
This is a Raised impression which was created when new Sediments cover the original impressions and harden within them. On occasion when you split this Jurassic shale, you will get both the original negative impressions as well as these Raised casts. This track has been lightly polished with a clear sealant to help pop them out. The sealant May be washed or peeled off so the fossil can revert to its original state. It has also been naturally hardened and water-worn very slightly.
