Recently and legally collected in private property along the Connecticut River Valley. This is the fossil impressions of a Theropod (raptor) that existed some 200 Million Years Ago. The species that made these tracks is relatively unknown to science, but it is theorized to be made by Dilophosaurus or a dinosaur similar.
This is a Raised impression which was created when new Sediments cover the original impressions and harden within them. On occasion when you split this Jurassic shale, you will get both the original negative impressions as well as these Raised casts. This track has been lightly polished with a clear sealant to help pop them out. The sealant May be washed or peeled off so the fossil can revert to its original state. It has also been naturally hardened and River tumbled.
