Recently and legally collected in private property along the Connecticut River Valley. This is the fossil impressions of a Theropod (raptor) that existed some 200 Million Years Ago. The species that made the raised track is relatively unknown to science, but it can be said safely that these tracks were made by theropods standing at about 5 to 7 feet tall. It could have very likely been made by Podokesaurus.
The Raised impression was created when new Sediments cover the original impressions and harden within them. On occasion when you split this Jurassic shale, you will get both the original negative impressions as well as these Raised casts. This track has been lightly polished, however it can wash off with a little elbow grease.
