Recently and legally collected in private property along the Connecticut River Valley. What makes this Trackway especially, well, special is that you can see where one individual stopped in its tracks. Maybe to observe its surroundings? These are the fossil impressions of a Theropod (raptor) that existed some 200 Million Years Ago. The species that made these tracks is relatively unknown to science, but it can be said safely that these tracks were made by theropods standing at about 3 to 8 feet tall. This was a very busy area as there are tracks all over the slab!
These are Raised impressions which are created when new Sediments cover the original impressions and harden within them. On occasion when you split this Jurassic shale, you will get both the original negative impressions as well as these Raised casts. These raise casts were naturally split by nature and naturally River-tumbled. There is no work done on them, these have been left in their natural state!
