This tongue twister as well as my illustrations were inspired on the real-life Mary Anning, occasionally referred to as the Princess of Paleontology. Mary Anning was an English fossil collector, dealer, and paleontologist who became known around the world for important finds she made in Jurassic marine fossil beds in the cliffs along the English Channel at Lyme Regis in the county of Dorset in Southwest England. Her findings contributed to important changes in scientific thinking about prehistoric life and the history of the Earth. She is also a personal childhood hero of mine.
The illustration was hand-drawn with blue and red mechanical pencils. It has been digitally enhanced. This variation of Mary Anning was inspired by the BBC short, “The life and work of Mary Anning”.
The Art print is signed and numbered on the back, and is hand-cut to 8” x 8” and matted in 12” x 12” Cardstock framing.
